getting naked

If you are to grow and live and thrive in spite of your chronic health conditions you must get naked with your vulnerabilities.  

If you wish to move forward you must humble yourself and acknowledge the fact that you are not in control. And that’s OK. So much of life is beyond our control. Knowing this is the first step in a long walk to authentic freedom. Recognizing what I like to call God’s Will is a way to center yourself in the present moment, free yourself from the anxiety and worry for tomorrow and suffering the guilt and shame of the past.

God’s Will. I once heard that to find happiness you must abide by God’s Will. It wasn’t until I started praying for the strength and wisdom to know and abide by God’s Will that truth actually started to set me free. 

What is God’s Will? How can we know God’s Will if we cannot grasp the concept of an all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the Universe. This brings us to step two of our critical walk of self discovery. Acknowledging that in this life there are many things we will never completely understand. Take, for example, Space and our ever-expanding, infinite Universe of Stars, Galaxies and celestial bodies. Our home, this blue planet surrounded infinite nothingness, is hurling through Space and what really blows my mind is this Space or infinite nothingness is getting bigger. This doesn’t make any sense. The math just doesn’t add up. How big must this creator be? How big do you have to be to build an expanding on infinite Universe? I am asking. I am not being rhetorical. There is an answer. Do you want to know it? The answer is: really big. Understanding or comprehending this kind of really big is the trick. What’s the trick? Reference Step 2 in our long walk of freedom and self discovery.

I know God’s Will. I know what it is an how it shapes my destiny and allows me to determine my own fate. When I prayed for the strength and wisdom to know and abide by God’s Will for me little did I know that this prayer would be answered. 

The key to knowing God’s Will is simple. Being present, being right here right now, being mindful, being aware of what is actually happening, being real, knowing and accepting reality. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but what you are doing right now shapes, defines and exposes God’s Will. 

I have been empowered with the strength and wisdom to abide in God’sWill and in so doing found a super-power. Faith. Reality is a product of faith and experience. Life is not meant to be understood. Life is meant to be lived and in doing so reality is created.

Stigma

Straight up. I want to explain the Rehab Stigma. What thoughts come to mind when I say the word Rehabilitation or Physical Therapy a staple in my well being philosophy. The Rehab Stigma is similar to and associated the Stigma of death. Rehab hurts. Physical Therapy is at times counter intuitive similar to the exercise energy paradox. Just as you must achieve Maximum Fatigue to grow strength, endurance and energy you must endure pain to improve functionality and increase tolerance.  Let me step back and explain how I break down exercise in four ways: endurance , strength, balance and flexibility.
